I am planning on taking the DAT Aug.22. I have a 3.7sGpa and 3.2cGpa. I think I have a serious shot at getting in DS if I can just beat the hell out of this test!I have been studying for about a month now and I decieded to take my first achiever practice test today! I wasnt expecting to dominate it or anything but i totally expected to do descent on it? I was hoping for like 17, 18 bio. I am a very strong o chem student so I was expecting to dominate it with 20+. I am not up on my gen chem so I expected to do bad on it. PAT I also expected to do at least descent. Well I got finished with the science with like 30 minutes left ( I totally guessed on every gen chem ?). I clicked on my score and I almost **** my pants!! All I saw were fat 12, 13, 14, 13 PAT 13 SCI. I didnt even attempt the math or reading . Should I be worried? I know im still early in my studying but I should be able to do better than 13? However, I did review my answers and saw a lot of careless mistakes, but I know these score do correlate with actual DAT scores and I should have done better? Should I be worried? Any comments will be appreciated greatly. Has anyone done really poorly on practice test only to go on and DESTROY the actual test! I am so scared now!
thank you,

Well...u still got about 2 months, right?
I heard that those materials are harder than actual DAT but then I started
to hear people saying that the actual DAT is also getting harder so I can't say for sure.
Just keep on studying~ everyone is scared :scared:

slow down buddy, first you gotta try you can't just guess on everything.

second you have time to learn. start easy with kaplan blue book or buy books from someone that took the kaplan prep course. use the flash cards from the prep course to fine tune your basics. take topscore tests and see how you do. the PAT you will need to practice. google search this site for PAT tips.

after you know the kaplan stuff and topscore fine tune and really lift that score with dat destroyer and dat achiever. read campbells bio for bio info that you don't know. make sure you get the most up to date version of the destroyer.

hope that helps don't freak out you have till the end of august.

Yeah you gotta try! Have some confidence! The ADA isn't making up "new" science to put on these tests (even though there has been talk that its a'changin) - instead everything that is on these tests should (you would think) have been exposed to you at some point in time, especially in gen chem and orgo. Biology...well some questions are kinda off-the-wall, so its possible to have never been exposed to that. But for the most part we have all seen most of this stuff. All said to say this - one of the most helpful things that I think you can do during the test is to look at every question thinking - I know this! - because you do. The *trick is to figure out how the the DAT people have disguised what you know to make you think you don't know it.

No, these scores do not correlate to your actual DAT scores. They are designed to be MUCH HARDER than the real one and for practice purpose only. Revise what field that you got the most wrong answers then study them again. This time, use a more in-dept text like Campell's or anything recommended by the ADA. Good luck
