I registered for the June 4 PREview because I thought I was going to apply this cycle. I'm delaying my AMCAS application but am still registered for PREview. I understand that PREview scores do not expire and that Casper needs to be taken the same year of application. With that, is it bad to take the PREview so early and will the score be counted for when I eventually apply next year? I tried searching up info on specific school websites but no clear explanation. I don't want to waste the registration fee.

Thank you.

Given the design of the PREview exam as an SJT whose results should span more than one cycle, you should feel free to do that. AAMC has not stated the valid period for a specific PREview result, though it is good rule-of-thumb to treat it like the MCAT (3 cycles). Most schools requiring PREview haven't said anything about accepting "older scores" or a bias against "older" scores. (The test is still very new.)

Now, I will say that the PREview exam rewards knowledge of academic medical culture, so if your activities over the next year include more immersion in a clinical environment, you may want to try to delay taking the exam (why not take it in the September window?).

I'm on the side of - Take it now and get it over with!
You already paid the $100 registration fee.
I just looked up their terms and if you reschedule it, they charge you another $25 and if you cancel they only refund you $50.

Who do they think they are, Ticketmaster?
