Wouldn't they 28th be the big MD/PhD interview day. I know those guys interview twice, I'm just not sure how they go about doing that. And is no one on SDN applying MD/PhD to OU this year?

last i heard all november md/phd interviews were filled..

still no word for me! i know people with lower "scores" than I do that have interviews already. anyone know if there's a good way to contact admissions to see what's up? i'm starting to get a little concerned :scared:

Yes, the 28th is a regular day - because I interview there on the 28th. Good luck to all, and maybe some SDNrs will be there on the 28th.

Maybe a phone call? I have no real idea on what to do with this. My mudphud friend called, I think, to get some kind of update, but I'm not real sure.

ellaB, you calculated using both the mcat and gpa and you had higher scores compared to your friends who got interviews? I remember you mentioning that your application was complete a while back...you confirmed this with the office, right? My friend had some filing issues with his and they lost some of his info, but he still got an interview later than it should've been. No worries....he had a happy ending nonetheless 🙂

yes i used the mcat/gpa formula, and i'm sure my file is complete, they sent me a screen shot of my application on their computer screen!

does anyone know if the mcat/gpa formula is the only criteria OU uses to give interview invites? I am an OK resident, but I went to school out of state, if that matters...

I guess I'll give it a little while longer before i start really worrying. it just seems everyone i know applying has already heard a yay or nay! thanks for the responses guys!

what is the GPA/MCAT formula used by OU? and also, are there cut-offs/requirements of OOS applicants? what's good/average, etc?

have they gotten to OOS interviews yet? it's been awfully quiet over here..

They start OOS interviews with the instate interviews. The numbers cutoff is a little higher, though, to be considered from oos. They are going to be interviewing through February, so there's still plenty of time.

How much time did all of you that had interviews spend preparing for the interview? Is it better that I do not completely formulate all my answers to potential questions? The problem I see with this method is that I will sound like I am giving rehearsed/cookie cutter answers in the interview. What are your thoughts?

I've been preparing a ton for my interview, but I am taking the next few days just to relax. I definitely think it's important not to come off as rehearsed...I think just come in there and be confident and be yourself. When is your interview?

It is definitely helpful to think of possible questions and imagine what you would say to answer them, but do not memorize and regurgitate the answer at the interview.

Poppytart hit the nail on the head with being confident and being yourself. The interviewers want to see that you are a level-headed individual who can formulate coherent answers to their questions without getting flustered or defensive. If you feel like they are trying to rattle you with a controversial issue or something similar, just take a deep breath and do your best to answer.

Oh yeah, and make sure you know why you chose medicine. They'll definitely ask that 🙂

Good luck to all the people interviewing today and throughout the week.

thanks for the replies, I am interviewing this thursday, are there any good websites out there I can look at that would be helpful? also, I heard the interviews this year are being done blind, is this true?

I mainly looked at all the questions on SDN's interview feedback. I also read current news and researched some healthcare issues. I haven't heard anything about blind interviews. I will be there thursday too...good luck! 🙂

Before my interview I heard that they were going to have one person have seen the application and the other two have not. But when I walked in all 3 were already talking about my application as if they read it. I don't know what the deal is about this rumor.

All three not only discussed my application like they had read it, but each one of them had a copy of it in hand and referred to it (one to check my age and another to check my MCAT scores oddly enough).

good luck everyone that is interviewing tomorrow! I am happy but nervous, and then nervous some more. Is it really as laid back as most people are leading me to believe?? How did everyone's from the past two days go??

My interview was pretty laid back, although there were a few ethical/medical questions. If you have been preparing and are fairly up to date on current medical issues, you should be fine. Good luck!

Good luck poppytart, I hope things go well.

Most people have a laid back interview, but if you don't, it doesn't mean you won't get in or they don't like you. So don't convince yourself you're doomed if your interviewer seemed a little harsh.

Good luck today!!

good luck poppy! let us know how it goes! :luck:

Hi everyone!! Thanks for the wishes! Yes, it went well!!! I couldn't be any happier! They joked around and we laughed at the beginning of the interview and at the end of the interview! I would be really sad if I didn't get accepted, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see! 🙂

It seems that I got lucky because many people had healthcare and/or ethics issues. I didn't have any, but if I did...I don't think it would be too bad because the questions seemed pretty basic. I heard that the next wave of interview invites will go out before Christmas break! Let me know if any you guys need any help or interview advice!!

I'm glad to hear it went well poppytart, how did everyone else's interview go?

Thanks!!! A lot of people were grilled on health care issues. So, to future interviewees, be ready with an opinion and some knowledge concerning current health care events! It wasn't so bad...I actually had fun! 🙂

Hello! Did you guys send thank you cards in c/o the admissions office to each separate interviewer or together as an admissions committee?

And don't say "because my uniform at the strip club doesn't fit anymore and is starting to chafe." Chances are that they won't find it humorous at your interivew either. 🙄

you say that with such authority.

glad to hear your interview went well poppytart! sounds like they've been going gentle on the SDN'ers. hope the streak continues!

ellaB, I'm on Jan. 11, too, so I'll see you there!

Lanieou, welcome to the thread!

Anyone who knows - I volunteer at Children's and thought I'd just walk my photos over instead of mailing them. Is the admissions office in the BSEB or another building?

I suspect that Lanieou and Ice Nine might have a lot to talk about...

It's in the BSEB building...I can't remember the room number. I walked my photos too. Congrats on the interview invite! Does anyone know all the interview dates?
