I was wondering if anyone would be able to weigh in on the quality of training at this program, whether current residents, those who have interviewed there, or those that know about the program and it’s reputation. They are a DO program with initial accreditation, and I was curious how a DO program like this stacks up against a new ACGME program, and whether there is a gap in the quality of training. Thanks!

I think the training should be good. Their residents always did a good job on their pediatric rotation at my program. Their guys have always gotten good jobs, mostly limited to the Tulsa area however.

They have a number of newer faculty who have done a great job at improving the program academically. The main hospital doesn’t have everything needed to meet ACGME numbers so they’ll do some rotations at OU children’s as well as some of the bigger hospitals in town (for neuro, etc.). There isn’t anything that will hold you back from developing the skills you need to be a great anesthesiologist.
