Old Question-- How much time between Review Course and Test.

Sorry for the questions that I am sure has been talked to death.... but I can't find anything about it on my search.

I am taking a 7-day review course, and plan on taking the Comlex seven days after the completion of that course. (Since the Comlex doesn't have many choices, I am stuck with this!) In relation to that, when should I take the USMLE?

My course ends on a Wednesday... could I take the USMLE that Saturday, and then the COMLEX that following Wednesday? Or is that way to close?

I am clueless on strategy? How about completing the Review Course, taking the COMLEX 7 days later, then taking the USMLE 7 days after that? I am reluctant to try this because so many people say take the USMLE first!

If you have gone through all the other material you feel you need to before/during that review course (question banks, first aid, etc.), then I think the Wednesday USMLE and Saturday COMLEX sounds perfect. Common advice here seems to be that a few days is plenty of time to review OMM between USMLE and COMLEX. If you are well prepared for the USMLE at the end of your review course, that sounds just about right. Make sure you have done whatever question banks and book reviews you want to do before that review course, and leave the couple of days between the course and USMLE to do some last minute first aid review.

I wish that was the case! But unfortunately its not.

Review course ends July 30th. I have the COMLEX on Aug 6th (exactly one week later). Where do you think i should put the USMLE in relation to that? I cannot move the COMLEX date unless I want to push it back a couple more weeks. 🙁

Sorry... thought you were finishing the course on Saturday... I misread your post. I think putting the USMLE on Saturday between July 30 and Aug 6 would be perfect, unless you think you will need additional time after the course to finish preparation for the exam.

A Monday and Tuesday should be plenty of time to review OMM before a Wednesday COMLEX, and it leaves you a day to relax after the USMLE... and all the material will still be very fresh for the COMLEX.
