Right, right i'm just surprised that it's enough of an issue that they have to move, generally allergies are manageable with medications and shots, but I get it now.Students moving to an off shore are more susceptible to illness & allergies for several reasons
1) as tropical/subtropical environment, you have a constant flowering/pollen season as plants fruit throughout the year
2) you have a higher concentration of flora that could be producing pollen
3) you have numerous varieties that students have never been exposed to before
4) you new microbes of many kinds that students have never been exposed to
5) you have close quarters under stressful work in new country that can stress immune systems
6) new diets, sleep patterns, etc add to that stress
7) I would add “home sickness” to that stress load
I have allergies, too, so I'm just like " wait it's enough of an issue that that many students move bc of it?!".
