I found a guy willing to sell a bunch of slightly older textbooks for med school (They are about 3 years old and some have two more editions that have come out). They are $5 apiece instead of the $20-30 I could expect to pay getting them used from Amazon. Is it okay to get these slightly older books? They can't be too different from the new ones.. right?

No, but most of the time the chapter numbers and their order will change, so it's a bitch when you're doing the assignments and have to check with a friend's textbook to see which problem corresponds to which. With a three year old edition I'd rather pay the extra $15

It won't be an issue if required problems aren't assigned from the textbook.

I can't say that my medical school has ever assigned problems out of the text book. Mostly they say: You should read that textbook. Go for older editions, honestly, with the exceptions of perhaps step 1 study guides.

Med school =/= undergrad. There won't be assigned problems. Get the cheaper books.

This, also if your school has great course packets then most ppl never read/buy a book.

Also, try getting international edition of textbooks. They are usually the exact same in terms of content and MUCH cheaper.
