This was rather long, but incredibly insightful. I wish this is what our policymakers were focusing on right now. Wow. I guess the best we as individuals can do is to be the Mayo doctors rather than the McAllen ones. In a way this was really inspiring.

OP, this article was posted and discussed here back when it came out, but it never hurts to bring it up again. It's definitely an interesting article.


I had no idea this was having such an impact... good to hear that this has become a bigger issue.
 
I just realized this article was written by Atul Gawande, the same person who wrote the book Complications that I just read a few days ago. And he was recommended by a prominent liberal group as interim senator in Massachusetts. I seriously love this guy.
 
Read this article a while back when all of the politicos were talking about it. Very insightful. Thanks for drawing attention to it.
