Hey all,

So these UWorld questions seem inconsistent with oliguria and what do next. Was wondering what is the technical go-by for oliguria (i.e. is it 250 mL in 12 hrs)?

Thanks.

Stick to < 0.5 mL/kg/h. In adults of average size, this is commonly approximated by urine output of ~ 30 mL/hr.

Generally the first step in these patients is an IV fluid bolus (unless they're in CHF w/ signs of fluid overload). And yes, 0.5mg/kg/hr is recommended. However since they usually don't give weights, I generally go with 30-50cc/hr of UOP. So yes, 250cc in 12 hours is oliguria.
