Our hospital went to only electronic charting a few months back, and now that I'm back on service, I realize how painful note writing is without templates. Before I write them up, I thought I'd ask if anyone would like to share their templates for common OMFS notes - eg wt consult, tmj/face pain consult, implant consult, trauma assessment, path consult, orthognathic consult, cf/cleft consult, procedures, anesthesia note, etc. Thanks.

I don't have any templates to share, but we use electronic charts as well. To save time in our system, I open a similar patient's chart, cut and paste the note into the current patient's chart, and then be sure change all the relevant details to customize the note.

I do this, but the system we use (Axium, which I completely 100% dislike) has system email, so I've written generic templates for most patient encounters and emailed them to myself. When I need them I copy them from the email and paste them into the note. Same as what you do but I don't have to recall a patient with a similar appointment.

Axium rules!!! 🙄 Unfortunately, we are still using paper and Axium until the new school opens. Is the paperless version still a pain in the arse?

We used Axium at IU. It's definitely not Dentrix or Eaglesoft, but I didn't feel it was terrible. I think a lot of its critics are just disenchanted students who decided it would be more fun to gripe and complain about it than learn to use it.
