In just a few hours, we will be able to start submitting our phase 2 rank lists. Wondering if anyone happens to know the answer to the following questions, specifically as they pertain to OMFS, but any information helps.

1) Is it safe to assume that if a program interviews you, they will rank you? My programs have been interviewing between 15-45 applicants for 2-5 positions and I didn't know how many applicants they are ranking.
2) On a related note, what are your thoughts of reaching out to programs to check if they ranked you at all? I have heard some schools will email to let you know that they wont be ranking you so that you don't waste a spot and was wondering if OMFS programs do this.
3) How common is it for OMFS programs to reach out to you to try to gauge how you are ranking them, and when would they do this if so?

-not commonly done, at least back in my day

They've already made their rank list. Just gotta make yours and wait. It's frustrating but can't do anything now

Agree with the reply above, and also, don't trust a word they say lol.

Their goal is to not go unmatched. If they contact you with any "promises", I'd take that as their nervous about going unmatched and I'd be cautious of them.

Ditto, this happened at Buffalo in 2020 where they rolled out the red carpet for someone who ended up matching there. Fast forward 5 years and the resident ended up transferring out of Buffalo to another state and is expected to graduate a year later. Nepotism is a bitch.
