So, as a hail mary, I applied to medical school again in 2018 but told very few people for fear of another failure. I found out this week that I was accepted to the lone school which interviewed me!! I just want to take this time to say thank you to everyone here who helped me and give a sincere "told-you-so" to everyone who had negative remarks devoid of actual criticisms. I have one thing to say to any "underdogs" here: take my story and learn from it. While in undergrad, focus on grades, MCAT and volunteering/research and take at least one day out of the week to be overwhelmed/depressed or whatever. Although I got in on my second attempt, my life would had been significantly easier if I used my academic prowess to create a strong profile as opposed to digging out of a hole. In reality, during the interview, I succinctly yet thoroughly explained my academic blips and was able to advocate for myself.

I probably won't be posting here too much in the future but I just wanted to give hope to anyone who may need it. Please do not believe that ALL medical school matriculants are perfect like SDN would have you believe.

Thanks for the wild times.

WOW Jim. You did it. You made it!

Please do not believe that ALL medical school matriculants are perfect like SDN would have you believe.

I don’t think anyone on SDN has ever said that. We don’t sugarcoat or ignore issues with applications, but no one has ever said you have to be perfect to make it.

Congrats. Now have the time of your life for the next few months
