OMG I just got invited to an interview at Western!!!!!! I thought it was like a joke or something. Tips/Suggestions ppl??? not in my wildest dreams I thought I would get into Western. I still cant stop jumping around. This is my second time applying to pod school. Low Low Gpa. I'd rather not say 🙁 but good test scores. I'd actually like to add, that the reason I probably didn't get in last time was because I act a fool at interviews. Had two last yr, didn't get in. Have three this year, hopefully it works 😀 again my gpa is bad....

haha thats what im loving about this website. Blunt Truth without restrictions....so in all honesty, western isn't that hott of a school. read the reviews on sdn. butttt if thats really your dream school, I'm sure you will succeed and prosper there.

Congrats! Just be yourself and maybe practice a bit for your interview. Think of some questions they could ask and your responses.

The link should take you to Western's interview feedback page (survey results in gray box on right). If not then fond it through interview feedback button on top of every page.

Just go over the questions people typed up. It's a closed file interview with behavioral based questions. It's kinda dumb because most likely you'll end up using experiences straight from your app anyways. Otherwise the faculty is impressive and the new building is great. Anatomy lab won't blow you away by any means and there is no gym, but it's SoCal so the weather probably makes up for all that. The only thing I didn't like was their schedule. Class 35 hours a week? No thanks, I'll take the 20 I get here in Des Moines, pass my boards, and still match. Otherwise, I was impressed with Western.

I wouldn't base your opinion of a school -or anything for that matter, based on what is said here on SDN.

To the OP; Western places more on who you are as an individual than your GPA -i.e. do you have what it takes to get through the tough curriculum and be a successful residency candidate vs how will you did in ochem.

That depends.

It is actually GREAT for you. Close file means they do not have access to your file, meaning they don't know ur app, your scores and your grades. I think it benefits people with lower scores because the interviewer won't be neg. biased before they talked to you.

What about the person with good grades and good MCAT? They want that known. Not ever person applying is hiding behind a poor MCAT/gpa.

What are your stats? Western is my dream school as well.. but my gpa is realll bad also... sub 3 range.. please let me know your stats so I can compare to see if I should I even apply this year or save my money and bring up my gpa for next year?
