Omicron

Deaths do lag a good 3 to 4 weeks, so we'll have to watch and see. I still think Omicron has great potential. Virtually everybody will be exposed to it no matter how many masks are worn and the volume of Purell baths. It apparently isn't particularly dangerous and could possibly have great potential to achieve the holy grail of "herd immunity" or maybe something close to that.

3 weeks later, things don’t look great.

I don't think the news has been all terrible. The new cases spike has come and mostly gone very rapidly. Time will tell if the mass immunity keeps the pandemic dormant for hopefully at least a while.

I'm so tired of the politics of covid that truth unfortunately is never really known. If you're on one side of the political spectrum you (not you personally) won't consider a lab leak is possible or that maybe lockdowns had huge cost with little benefit, and then the other side is often locked in their mind with silliness that vaccines are dangerous placebos, etc. At this point who knows what's what.
