hey all, if anyone has recieved verificatoin of their OMSAS id like some help. I just got my verifcation letter today, and a couple things. For one, it says by my transcripts that one was recieved and one was "changed" ( i had two schools i went to so two sets) anyway my GPA came out.. now is that the GPA U of T sees or does U of T also drop a few of your grades?

Also, canadian schools are not rolling right? so when does U of T start looking at apps? anyone know that woudl be just great!

Hi Ramoray.. I also applied to OMSAS (McMaster and U of T)... yeah U of T changed their policy, this year they drop your worst courses (before it was worst year)... if you were a full time student they drop 5 of your worst courses, as long as you've graduated or completed four years. You need a minimum of 3. 6 for them to even look at you. I have a 3.5 but when you drop my worst courses it goes up to a 3.7 so we'll see....

And you're right no rolling admissions in Ontario.... anyhow, if you have any more Q's PM me....

Interestingly when I got my confirmation letter from OMSAS my second reference letter didn't come through?!?!? and I'm 100% certain my prof. sent it, so I had to x-press mail another reference check list to him and have him send another letter!!! (he's in Florida now) fuc%ing crazzzy I tell ya!

My advise to you is to call them.... they'll help you out.... they are super busy right now, but you should be able to get through no problem.

Cheers

Ramoray, check out this website for Canadian premeds: www.premed101.com. Click on "forums" at the top of the page. There is a U of T forum that addresses some of your questions (U of T grade selection) and an OMSAS forum dealing with the verification papers.

U of T is notorious for processing apps. I've heard of some people waiting till the summer to hear back from them after interviews..... So, relax - things are a lot slower in Canada. 🙂
