i rc'd the drexel secondary today, and wanted to ask everyones opinion....

as i am typewriter-challenged [i.e. there isnt one in like a 30 mile radius] how kosher would it be to scan in the app, make it a pdf file and type it up that way? handwriting it is my absolute last resort.... but i cant help but think that if they wanted us to go the pdf route, they would have emailed the app.... any thoughts?

Go for it. If i sent you an application and I wrote "please type", i would be most concerned with being able to read the print not with whether you busted out the ol' type writer and white out and actually TYPED it up.

Hmm... I wonder if I'm the only one who's not typing it.... Drexel will have to be satisfied with my hand written application. If they wanted it typed, they should have e-mailed the darn thing.

i'm going for the old-fashioned way too (hand-writing, not typewriting)

I had this same thing come up recently. I bought some large sticky labels at like an office max and literally 'cut and pasted' my responses. The secondary was on blue paper in booklet form and I didn't want to chance a misalignment trying to get it through the printer. The finished product looked fine and I received an interview appointment. Arts & crafts anyone?

not bad not bad!! my main reason for wanting to avoid the handwritten route is due to my handwriting - which i think is perfectly clear but others seem to have difficulty with

Drexel's secondary is so easy. I don't know why you would bother typing it.

you can do that? wow, you're a lot more computer savy than i am. would you mind sharing the pdf with others after you're done? 🙂

For God's sake. Everyone on SDN is so worried about typing their applications. Look,... if it comes mailed in a traditional form style, then they should not expect that you type it. I just got an email interview invitation today from a school whose application I handwrote.

Who the hell owns a typewriter anyways? I used good a good ol' fashion pen for mine last year, and I stil got an interview. 👍

If you take good care to write neatly it won't matter. But if you're feeling espically paranoid about it, here's how I'd suggest you do it. Scan the form and make it and make it a full sized image file. Open up a program like powerpoint or paint or something, and insert the image. Then use individual text boxes to fill in the responses. Then delete the image of the form leaving just the lined up text answers. Put the form into the printer, print the text and presto, perfect typewritten form. You may want to copy the form and have a few trials before commiting the original to printing.

ooooh! thats wicked smaaat! 👍

...and I thought I was neurotic! thats too much work for me, and besides I already started writing on it before I read this thread. I am starting to get a little paranoid though 🙁

It is amazing to me how easily someone can get attacked just for asking a question on here... call CDC, I think we all need to be quarantined do to our exposure from PRE-MED SYNDROME... 🙄

anyway, I completely understand your worries, my handwriting is horrible as well... I'm sure they not only be okay with you hand-writing it, I think they'll be impressed that you took the time... then again, considering that its Drexel, and how completely and totally overworked their staff is, they probably won't even notice either way... 😉
