On Midwestern's waitlist but are going elsewhere?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

You should withdraw your application then, so people like me, who are actually on the waitlist and want to attend will hear sooner then later!!!

that would be a nice gesture to everyone else...

i have already sent them a letter a couple weeks ago but i havent heard anything from them abt it.

Yeah welcome to the Waitlist club! For those on the waitlist...like me...do you happen to know when they take people off the waitlist? Like beginnining, middle or end of June! The wait is killing me and I really want to know! Please let me know if anyone hears back from them about anything! Thanks and good luck to everyone! Bye! 🙂

For people waiting at CCP, from what I heard from a buddie of mine who is doing DO school at midwestern, he said that the admissions comittee will probably let people know 10 days prior before school starts, and usually that is the case. Even though they say mid summer-August. Hope that helps...

Well that just sucks. I hope they decide to pull from the waitlist before then, otherwise that totally bites.

Well what are you gonna do? They pull people off as spots become available. I would rather wait until the day before orientation then have to wait a whole year to get in. Whining isn't going to change anything...we get anough of that at MWU as is.

Dude chill out. Nobody is whining. It's just frustrating to wait since they don't really say what spot you are on the list. It just makes it harder to know what to do when you have no idea of what is going to happen to you.

come on you really think back in here reality it is fair to someone to tell them one day before school starts that they are accepted? How professional is that? If you have a job you would have to quit on the spot. If you live out of state you basically have to pack your car and go stay in a hotel while you try to find a place to live and go to school. For midwestern though, being a private school means 100K lost per each seat they leave open which is the real reason they still try to get people up to the end if necessary.

You act like they are making students wait on purpose. That is not the case. They contact students when seats become available. And yes that is sometimes the day before classes start because people change their minds. It happens at any school. Yeah waiting sucks, but what are you gonna do? You wait and hope for good news if you have not been accepted elsewhere. There are always rooms on campus and if it happens last minute they give you temporary housing. Yeah waiting sucks, but complaining about it is annoying. You should be happy that you still have a chance to get in somewhere if you have not been accepted somewhere else. Always have a plan B. One student in my class had started classes at a different and go in the day before orientation, he dropped what he was doing and came over. Having to wait is way better than not getting accepted at all.

Chill dude, like I said nobody is trying to complain and I'm grateful that I am on the waitlist. The reason why I said it sucked to wait that long is because the poster before mine was the one that made it sound like they make people wait on purpose and said that they were not going to pull from the waitlist until the week before classes. Now I don't care if they pull people now and then they pull me the day of classes. But I think that if they wait till the week before to pull the very first person from the waitlist then that sucks. And yes I do have a plan B already. I already know what I am going to do if I don't get in. Like I said I wish they would at least let us know if we are one of the top ones from the list so we could know where we stand. Frankly I am happy they at least decided to waitlist me and still give me a chance. I hope I do get pulled from the waitlist and if they do that the first day of classes then I will be standing there with my money in hand and a smile on my face. Plus if your so "annoyed" with people "complaining" like you said, then don't read this thread. Plus this thread doesn't even pertain to you because you're already in school. So quit complaining about what we write. Like you said "complaining is annoying" so leave us alone!

Personally I believe many schools waitlist students on purpose if they think the students are overqualified and probably won't go to the school anyways. It's called yield and attrition.

so for what evilolive just said, schools put more students on the waitlist then necessary? so if MWU has 70 people waitlisted...about half of those are probably actually waitlisted? makes sense. Do other people think the same? And how many seats will be availiable for the waitlisted students....? ...any guesses?

It happens at elite undergraduate admissions, so it would be logical that graduate programs do the same.

It only makes sense for a school to have a much larger list as you mentioned for the waitlist. It secures them to fill up the class.

Also as you had mentioned, schools will realize that the highest qualified students will get multiple acceptances but obviously can only attend one of those schools.

I am also confused about someone complaining about being sick of others complaining.

CCP generally accepts about 30-40 students off the wait list.

They don't rank the waitlist because they review all candidates at the same time because of rolling admissions. Think about it...some people have been waitlisted back in Nov and others in April. It makes it hard to rank the list otherwise people who applied later would always be at the end even if they were a better candidate than someone at the beginning.

Yeah but come on, they have already had their last MCV. They've already sent out the last letters to those who were accepted, waitlisted, and denied. So it doesn't make sense what you're saying. They can look at all the waitlisted students now, and let us know where we stand.

Hang in there, Brasilia. I am a wreck too.

I emailed the adcom last week asking for an update on the waitlist, to see if they had possibly ranked it, yada yada yada. Still not heard anything back. 🙄 Will let you know if I do. oh well gotta keep trying.

I think we need to come up with a new hobby to take our minds off of it!!!🙂

Thanks to everyone who replied to my message! Good luck to those on the waitlist..and if your already accepted! Let me know how pharmacy school is for where ever you going! Enjoy your break! And let me know if anyone hears from Midwestern! Thanks!

I will give you this..if you get a call asking if you are still interested in attending...the chances of your acceptance are about 90%.

can you guys give me your stats when u got accepted...especially UIC students..thanks

complaining, whining or just getting your frustrations out about pharmacy school. This is the place to do it. I was on the waitlist and i used this forum alot to get info or talk to others in the same boat i was. It helped hearing that other people were experiencing what i was going through. It's hard to go through it all by yourself. Fortunately i got into MWU cpg, but when i was waiting this was where i got all my support. So if you need to vent or speak your mind then go ahead, there are others there feeling the same thing.
