I'm assuming that med schools don't really look at your app until it is complete (secondary/LOR are in).

What is considered early then, for an application complete? What is late? What is considered the "in between."

Yes this may be a trivial question, but please don't reply "it depends." Answer or guess to the best of ability.

Thanks

Im assuming youre talking about AMCAS schools only. Also, are you talking about AMCAS primary or each school's secondary.

Early AMCAS primary is transmission before July 4th usually. Middle is transmission in August/Early September. Anything after is Late IMHO.

For secondaries, early is 1-2 weeks after receiving them. Middle is 3 weeks, Late is a month or so. Some schools give deadlines on secondaries.

Really? I hope that's the consensus cause I thought transmitting around now would be considered late (enough to be a slight disadvantage to your application).

Or, it could just be that I've been reading too much SDN lately. 😉

I pretty much agree with Gleevec. Remember there are lots of people who just took the MCAT who won't have completed applications for a while now.

Yeah, I consider post-August MCAT takers to be in the middle category. Anything after that group submits is late in my opinion. This is all guessing, I dont know what adcoms really think.

I didn't mean AMCAS or secondary. I meant when everything is in, because what happenes before that doesn't matter. By everything I mean your amcas (if applicable), secondary (if they have, + LOR are in. Some are getting secondaries sent out now but LORs not for another month.

do you guys think that someone with a 3.85 overall, 3.71 science, previous, mcat score of 26 and an august 2003 score pending should apply now or is better off waiting til next year?

Apply now, and if the August MCAT comes out bad and you don't get in, there's always next year.

With that GPA I'd apply now. Why risk having to wait another year to start med school?

because i feel like it's really late to get a good application together and if i spend the next year and a half getting an mph and apply early june next year i'll have a better chance.
i also have a bad feeling about the aug mcat.
