Question: so I'm a Washington resident currently holding one acceptance (Jefferson Med in Philly). I also recently found out that I'm waitlisted at University of Washington SOM, on the "ranked" waitlist. The problem is, I'm pretty far down on the list, like in the 50 range. I've heard that in the past most people on this list get in, but one can't be sure.

I know that May 15th is the deadline by which to resolve multiple acceptances....but I'm not sure what the deal is with holding a waitlist spot AND an acceptance at the same time. I do want to go to UWSOM (if not for the pure fact that it is mucho cheaper) as a first choice. If I get into UWSOM post- May 15th, do I simply send the other school a letter withdrawing? And how long does one have to traditionally "wait" to be offered a spot of the waitlist?

Don't want to jeopardize my spot at either JMC (if I don't get into UW) or UWSOM (if I do get in). Would appreciate your guys' insight/advice on this, thanks!

you don't have to withdraw from waitlists on may 15th. just stay on it and keep your acceptance. basically on may 15th, you are allowed to accept one school but can stay on as many waitlists as you want. as people drop uwash on may 15th, you may eventually get pulled off the list. this can happen now to until the day before class starts. good luck!:luck:
