Long story short, I had to take a class over the summer (into to anthropology) at a local community college. Needless to say, I blew it off and ended up with a C+😡 I'm unbelievably annoyed with myself.

Anyways, my GPA was previously a 3.60 and this one grade moved my GPA to a 3.56 :sendoff: I can't believe that having 127 credit hours under my belt would cause this kind of GPA change, but unfortunately, it does. This GPA difference seems pretty big to me... so what can I do? Should I try to get the grade changed to a "Pass" so it won't affect my cumulative GPA? (I don't know how likely it is to happen, but it can't hurt to try) Will the .04 really make that much of a difference? (it just seems like it's very important to get over that 3.6 hump).

Thanks for any help.

Meh it happens.. It may look like a big difference, but fact is it's only a .04 difference, its not like a difference in echelons or anything..

Now a difference of .4 would suck..

Good luck and dont worry about it, wash you hands and move on.👍

I don't think it's a huge deal. It's okay, really.

Look on the bright side. If you get 20 As it will move all the way up from 3.56 to 3.58.

I doubt you will ever get into med school now. Seriously, you screwed your chances royally. Might as well give it up now.

i agree....youll never get in anywhere because your too dumb to handle the material. maybe youll learn better when your a trash man or a janitor or something

I just found a video of the op finding out he got a C.

Must suck to be wound up so damn tight.

This is probably what 90% of pre-meds would do if they got a C.

that was freakin hilarious. wow

OP, don't listen to the haters. There are plenty of people who get into med school with C's. Although, intro to anthropology is about as easy as it gets, but you cans still recover. Just do well in harder classes to show what you can do.

...and you are qualified to measure the OP's intelligence in what way? From one class? Hardly.

Intro to Anthro owned me. Good times.

I agree with many of these. I would, however, like to point out that it is usually very hard to tell if someone is being sarcastic in writing. Therefor I usually take what people say as just that, what they say.

Smooth.

I find even getting a B+ compared to an A- is quite a large difference in GPA, a C would be devastating, would it effect your science gpa?

Not if you have super many credits.

Holy mofo,

what is he a freakin' monkey or was that his manic phase???

that guy on right just taking a vid of the whole thing just made me laugh:laugh:.

And people say not to take pre-reqs at the CC because there too easy...

I don't think .4 is much of a difference. I say you're lucky that it isn't more because of your foolishness to blow the class off.

.4 is a HUGE difference. Make or break type of difference, in fact.

.04 on the other hand is nothing. But I really hope you (original poster) didn't need us to tell you that...

Think about those have recieved C+'s in 4 or 5 credit courses with their total credits being no where near yours.

It doesnt really matter IMO...i dont think EVERY SCHOOL is going to reject you because you dropped .04, nor will EVERY SCHOOL accept in the case you got .04 MORE.

I really don't get it...

I can understand someone not knowing what kind of profession they want, and not take their grades seriously. But someone who KNOWS they want to become a doctor and KNOWS how important GPA is, can actually "blow a class off" and get a C+... I don't get it, especially a class like Intro to Anthropology. If you "blow off" a harder class you're going to FAIL. Get your priorities straight...

Wow, I can't believe how much response this thread got...

Anyways, to those who are curious, I didn't simply blow off the class because I didn't feel like working... I blew it off because I was going through a MAJOR family crisis, two really, and my mind was simply elsewhere. I also moved halfway across the country one day before the course started. I wanted to drop the class, but realized that I missed the deadline by one day. I would appreciate it if someone could give me USEFUL advise (to those who did, thanks!)

Back to my original question... is it worth trying to go through the hassle of changing the grade to a "Pass" instead of a C+ or should I leave it alone and assume that the .04 drop won't make a difference? I'm taking a handful of classes this year that I believe I can get As in, which will bring my GPA back to a 3.6, but it would be nice for those As to raise my 3.6 GPA instead of my 3.56.

My priorities are straight... thanks. I've taken PLENTY of difficult courses and received As. My overall GPA might not be "perfect," but it's obvious that I've worked hard and done well. Take your "high and mighty" attitude elsewhere please... it's not appreciated here.

If you *can* get it changed, I don't see why not. Between a C+ and a pass, I would rather take the pass, and since it's not really an important course, medical schools won't really care about it not being on letter grade basis as compared to if you took bio p/np.

i am not being sarcastic but i tink a 3.56 is on the low side.
change it if u can, i mean.. why did u even ask, because it is always better to have a higher gpa rather than a lower one! so u shud have changed it to a pass/fail without even asking for opinions!

Just wondering... is GPA calculation divided into science GPA and all-other GPA or just science GPA and overall GPA?
