I got this off a website:

"Kristin Laura Kreuk was born to a Chinese mother and a Dutch father on December 30, 1982. She grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Kreuk, 5-4, had decided to go to college to study forensic pathology until, in her senior year, her drama teacher suggested she go to an audition for a new Fox Family series called Edgement."

Forensic pathology? Can you enter that field without becoming an MD? Was she premed?? If so, that's just unbelievable. 😱

What? Why? HUH?

You sound confused my friend. 🙂 Basically, I think I discovered that Kristin Kreuk used to be premed. Think of it as you discovering that Brad Pitt (or whatever guy you think is unbelievably hot) used to be premed. It's a shock!

Coincidentally, does this attached pic do ANYTHING for you?

Um, that would mean senior year in High School, correct? Therefore she was never a premed in college, correct? Indeed, she most likely is not attending college?

Ahhh! I read that sentence wrong. Oh well. I guess she fits under the 75% that had plans of entering med but dropped out. Bummer. 🙁

That makes sense though cause she's only 21 now which means she would barely be a senior in college right now had she attended (not several years ago.)

wow you must really like Kristin Kreuk. Is she the fixation of every pre-med guy out there?

Who is this girl? 😕 She's cute in that uber-innocent looking pre-med way.

But she's an uber bitch in real life...I live in Vancouver and have heard from people who met her that she wouldn't even sign an autograph for them and she just stormed off, ignoring these people. Same goes with her co-star, too.

That girl looks like an elf.

Wasn't Natalie Portman premed? Hmm...well I won't see her, she's probably going to HMS 🙂

She's the lead actress from SMALLVILLE!! Apparently you don't watch TV at all 😉

Under the British System, Secondary School (Grade 7-13) are sometimes called "College". It's a bit confusing I know...

Plus Don't Canadian Med Schools also follow the British system, where people enter a 6-year med school program after Grade 13? (Or Canadians' med schools are like U.S. too?)

No, not really. She looks sorta like a cartoony manga character.

I am pretty sure that you can do forensics and not get an MD. There are certain programs that are geared toward that field without having to go to medical school. What does everyone else think? Alex, I am sorry to say but get a life. Seriously.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can get a Masters degree in forensics.

I think it is even cooler that she wanted to be a forensic pathologist. A girl that doesn't mind getting dirty and like blood & guts will always hold a special place in my heart.

You can do forensics without and MD, you just cannot be a forensic pathologist. If a jurisdiction uses the Medical Examiner system, the person conducting autopsies and investigating the cause of death of a person must be a board certified pathologist, and in many cases, a board certified forensic pathologist. In areas where they use the coroner system, a person is elected to be a coroner. He really only has to be qualified to sign death certificates. If an autopsy must be done (homicide, suspicious circumstances, etc...), it is done by a pathologist at a local hospital or even by a funeral director if necessary. This is why the coroner system is slowly being phased out in this country. It is not as reliable and efficient as the medical examiner system.

Uh...I think that operative word is "wanted" as in desired not accomplished or even attempted.

Very true. It's a whole new ballgame once you step into the morgue and the first incision is made. And being a crime scene investigator (no MD necessary) has the potential to be even more gruesome.

I always find it funny that people think that being premed is some amazing thing. It takes absolutely nothing to be a premed except a desire to go to medical school. It doesn't even take the ability. Someone could take general bio and be failing it, and claim to be premed.

If you took the MCAT, I'll buy it. If you did well and got accepted to med school, I'll be impressed. But a person saying they're a premed is like saying they're an actor or actress. Anyone can claim it, but that doesn't mean there's an ounce of talent or suitability for it.

That's true. . probably 80 percent of our pre-health peeps didn't even follow through after 4 years.

Umm. . and please don't kick my ass 😳 😉 🙂

In the discussions about attractive pre-med/MS students, we limited it to at least juniors in college to weed out the people who come in freshman year thinking that ER is real life.
