I will probably be given one last chance to take this test Step2 ck by May 11, 2011. How would you study if you were me? I did Uworld last time; but I did not go through and meticulously make notes. Which I should do this next time.

Get off SDN for one. You are posting on like 4 different threads. The consensus on this board is UWorld and a review book (FA, Secrets, etc.). Not trying to be a downer, but the stats for passing rate after multiple fails is very low. There is always hope, but you should probably have a plan B. Good luck.

you should probably read a lot! like a book per section of the step 2, ie, read Step up to Medicine, Blueprint Ob/Gyn, First Aid Psych, Blueprints/Case Files Peds, NMS Casebook Surgery, and then UWorld, USMLERx, +/- Kaplan Qbank. I always like studying in public places. You have like a lot of time left, wouldnt short change yourself by using a very very condensed book like First Aid as your sole source, although you could probably add Step Up to Step 2 for funzies. goodluck!

I actually did well in the OBGYN part. I need to know now what is the highest yield for each subject? surgery -pestana? Kaplan psych notes? I plan to do DIT with Step up to Step2. I was close enough to passing to give it another shot.

By reading a 'book per section' what do you mean? The only books I like reading 'outside' study books are tropical medicine books.

I would minimize the resources and just know a couple of them well. Do USMLE World AGAIN. Go through each question and read EVERYTHING carefully. Take notes on things you want to remember if that is what works for you. Re-do all the questions you got wrong and any questions you marked, and AGAIN read everything in the explanation (including the explanations for wrong answers). Read Step Up to Medicine since medicine is like 75%-80% of the exam. Read all of the non-IM chapters of First Aid for USMLE Step 2 (this really isn't that much of the book). You should be able to do all of this at least two times by March 11. I did just that above and scored >270, so clearly not having a review book for each subject is still adequate.

I agree with the previous post. Not too many resources but do them over and over and over again... I used First Aid and USMLE-World only... And just limit your computer use to UW... Check email once a day... Study, study, study... It's easier said than done, but you can manage with good knowledge of the limited resources rather than limited knowledge of multiple resources...

congrats on your score, wish I can get something like that this July. however, I am guessing that you were probably fresh off your rotations in a US hospital, probably studied for shelf exams, had adequate preparation/instruction from your residents/attendings... well, this person is not quite the same. to name a few differences, she has had multiple attempts at the exam with no luck, probably has not had direct patient care responsibilities for a while, and is studying from a Caribbean school (dunno how they conduct their rotations...). she needs to reinforce her knowledge base, a lot

I am not a troll. I am a Duke b.s. Tulane M.P.H. international epi. Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Africa. And ended up in a carib school by means of vicious politics. I prefer to be anonymous and find support through this forum.

I am well quailified; just exhausted from last year and having almost had twoparenst die in the last 6 months.
