I submitted my app a few days ago. 3.46 cGPA 3.4 sGPA, strong upward trend, 12/12/13 (37) MCAT, CA resident. Heavy on research (2+ years full time). Just looking for a double check that there aren't any schools I'm missing. I have omitted some that might be in my range due to less preferable geography (e.g. Tulane). I am willing to go anywhere, of course, but I'm not sure it's necessary to apply to more bottom tier schools at this point.

Albany
Albert Einstein
BU
UCLA
Drexel
Eastern Virginia
Emory
George Washington
Georgetown
Jefferson
USC
Loyola
New York Medical College
NYU
Rush
Temple
UMiami
Tufts
UCSD
UC Davis
Virginia Tech
total: 21

Considering adding:
Duke
Rochester
UVA

Sorry for the repeat thread, but thought a fresh post was needed

Replace either GW, BU, or Georgetown with Rochester (those 3 get sooo many apps).

I hear that said a lot (they get a lot of apps). Can you explain why that actually matters? Presumably they accept their best applicants, and based on LizzyM scores, I'm in that range, so...

You're more likely to be picked out if there is less competition.

Goro suggests:

Albany
Albert Einstein
UCLA
Drexel
Eastern Virginia
George Washington
Georgetown
Jefferson
Drexel
Rosy Franklin
SLU
MCW
Loyola
New York Medical College
Rush
Temple
Tufts
UC Davis
Virginia Tech
Tulane
VCU
Hofstra and any other new MD school
Western and TUCOM-CA since they're in your backyard.

My point is that we don't actually know if the acceptance percentage specifically for people with median or above median stats is less than it would be at a school that doesn't receive as many apps.

You can look at the numbers on MSAR for interviews/matriculants etc. and figure out what works best for you. If you really want GW and GTown, no problem with it since your stats are fine.

We interview selected candidates in each category of stats according to our historical yields, not just the "best" numerical applicants.
