good enough for me 🙂

Im kinda surprised how close i cut it though....sheeesh. If I could magically pay $20 and change my 192 to a 262, I wouldn't do it though....I didnt really care just so I passed.

im assuming you are going anesthesia. do u match next month or will u be matching next year?

rxboy has a great post in the anesthesia section on the real competitiveness of anesthesia residency. it is a good source to see the true competitiveness.

Also, if you did well on Step 1 and don't release your scores... the programs never see the Step 2 until you've matched.

I'm also going into anesthesia. The average step 2 at my top choice was in the 240s last year-- I (probably) won't have that. Hence, I'm not releasing scores until post-match.

There's a wide range of programs out there, and Step 2 just doesn't count the way 1 does.

Wait... let me see if I am understanding this correctly. I am taking Step II CK way early to get it out of the way, but of course gamble with the chance that I may do poorly and damage any likelihood in matching into my top choice. So if I do poorly (but pass) I have the option of not releasing those scores until after the match?

This only works if you take Step 2 after submitting ERAS.

If you take the exam before, then you have no option but to release ALL USMLE scores at the same time. If however, you submit ERAS, release Step 1 only & then take Step 2 you have the option to "Do NOT automatically send my scores"...which keeps your score hidden until you manually re-release USMLE scores.

Good Luck.
