YES!!!! I finished the last day of my 3rd year clinical rotations today--I'm happy beyond words. Of course I still have the surgery shelf tomorrow...oh well--details, details.

I can't WAIT to start my first rotation of 4th year--surgical pathology, baby!

OK done with the outburst. Just wanted to share the good news with all my path buddies 😀

Yeah - kind of like my 3rd year - I finished medicine clerkship and then had a month off before a path elective. I felt as if an enormous weight had been lifted and my medical career would actual have meaning and interest again. It's all downhill from here! 👍

Congrats, Clair!

I have 3 weeks of OB left of my third year, and I can hardly wait for it to be over. 😉

Wanted to extend my congratulations as well.

3rd year really does suck llama balls and it's great to see that you, Brian, and the others who are finishing up 3rd year have survived.

4th year is so much better. While the intensity is much less compared to 3rd year, you have the opportunity to do more rotations in your field of interest.

Hopefully you will enjoy your pathology rotation(s) and it further solidifies your decision to go into path. May all your wildest dreams come true (vote for Pedro).

Ya'll are so nice! Thanks for the kind words. No wonder I 😍 pathologists!

Brian--hang in there! 3 more weeks...you can do it! (Even though it is OB/GYN which was personally the bane of my existence during 3rd year)

Hey Clair!! Congrats! I am exactly the same boat as you. I had my last day of peds today and have the test tomorrow. I am just praying I don't fail!

Then I have a week of vacation, and my first rotation next year is surg path!! Woohoo!!

I know--I still am trying to figure out why they actually need us to do 24 hour call; I end up leaving the floor to sleep around 1am, so it's not like I'm being all that productive... 🙄 whatever.

My first elective rotation will *hopefully* be dermatopathology at Mt. Sinai in NYC...provided I hear from them rather shortly. I hope 3 path rotations isn't overkill. So many people say "you'll be doing pathology for the rest of your life, so you should do something else..." Um, I have been doing something else for the past year, and it (to quote our esteemed Dr. Milonakis) sucked llama balls!!

Doing three pathology rotations is just fine. In fact, with respect to getting the best path letters of recommendation as possible, I would err on the side of caution and do more path rotations than less. Plus, you've had some pathology experience before med school and you know what you enjoy so more power to ya.
