Congrats to everyone who matched -- I've already started drinking! Sorry to those who are disappointed today.

I'm a data ***** and already checked the match statistics for this year -- there's one unfilled spot this year. All categorical programs filled, and the unfilled advanced position is in the south.

Any guesses on which program this was?

i'm sure they'll be fine, they have a long list of research fellows there. i wonder if they plan on filling through the fellows or through the scramble

Really? I interviewed there! And I was actually told there was only one spot this year. I would hope they didn't go through the trouble of interviewing 20 people and not ranking them.

I would've assumed they had no problems matching 1 student either considering how impressive their program is

its interesting to note that somebody marked UAB as their number 1 rank on that thread we had going a few weeks ago. Apparently that person didn't match there even though they wanted to.

That's what I'm curious about. Did UAB not submit a full rank list? Or a list at all? 😕

They do have a fairly large program in terms of residents/year. But the word going around was that a couple of the positions were "spoken for"/to be filled outside of the match. I'm assuming for research fellows or perhaps residents who took some time off.

Even with one spot, it was a phenomenal program and almost everyone left impressed. (If anything, we were impressed and then depressed that there was only one spot to be had via the match!)

I am so jealous. 😀 I wish I could cancel out my #4 (well, I already know someone matched into one of their spots) cuz my top 3 are divine.

This week has been such a roller coaster ride. From full on panic Sunday evening, to sheer joy Monday, and then escalating enthusiasm since then!

I will still definitely sleep better tonight than Sunday night. 😀

You were right! Matched at my #2.

It's actually my home program which means I'll hopefully only be leaving Texas for vacations from here on out
