I had a really hard time sleeping for about three days coming up to the test. I would just lay awake, running through o-chem reactions, g-chem equations, and biology processes over and over again. I couldn't get my mind to shut down. One thing that I found helped would be NOT reviewing flash cards or studying during the hour right before bed. If you do, that will be all you can think about when you try to sleep. I also found that a warm drink like tea (herbal non-caffeinated, obviously) can help to relax you.

As far as what to study, take some practice tests (Topscore and Achiever) and then study the topics you get wrong. Don't waste time going over things that you know cold. If you are having a particularly hard time with a concept in chemistry or a definition in biology, now is the time to really hammer them out. Good luck in a week!

Thanks a lot yall! Im really nervous.. i keep getting 17's on topscore even though i keep studying and studying.. I feel like everyone on here is so smart... What did yall think of the test? Some people say that we overhype it on these boards..:scared:

just remeber about the scores SDNers posting here, at least 3X are not posted here. one of them is me 20/19/15 last year but I didn't post here. just relax and listen to Epictetus21 that is great advice. don't worry about your score in topscore. last year i got 14-15 avrage on that but ended up with 20.
best luck 👍

Yea,sometimes I think about same thing, that these people in here are very smart.
In the past couple of months I have not seen one score below 20!!!!!😀
But,think about it,no one in here is required to show his/her score in here!
So,it is not very hard to come up with whatever score you would like,is it?
I'm not saying everybody in here is lying,I'm just saying not everybody is honest.I bet you half of them are not very honest about their score.Otherwise where are those who are getting 18 and 17 and all that, and still getting in.So be confident and don't worry, you are as smart as rest of the people in here.Good luck.

dude I am in the same situation except that my test is on monday. ahh! I have been doing practice tests and noting down whatever I got wrong and lil complex from destroyer, kaplan, topscore, achiever. the list goes well over 300 questions

Wow its really really great to have some encouragement, because usually when i read these boards i get really down. Im glad theres others out there like me! I go to a really good school, so im kinda used to not being the smartest kid in town.. but its still frustrating. Its really encouraging to know that I could end up doing better on the actual exam.

So, 17/18/19 people can still get in? I guess after reading these boards so much it seems like even a flat out 20 is a bad score!!

Anyways, good luck to everyone who is taking the test and thanks for the advice!!

Just remeber study till day before your test. that day do something fun and relax.
good luck

Just relax. I was getting 13s on Topscore last year, but ended up getting 19 on Academic Average. Though I got really low scores on Math and RC which brough my score to 17. I got an interview invitation last year, but I guess I didn't do well at the interview.. 🙁

Good luck with studying!!

🙂

Same here 🙁

Hey yall, i feel alright because ive been getting between 18-20 in gen chem bio and orgo on topscore and achiever.. but last time i took an achiever i got a 15 in bio!!! should i be worried? or is topscore more comparable to the real thing?? Thanks!! Just to to let you guys know, all of your support gave me a boost of confidence, and I started doing better on my practice tests because i was thinking a lot more positively!! thanks so much!! 🙂

Ugggghh! You guys drive me nuts sometimes. I know everyone's stressed out (and don't worry i was too) and is asking which practice tests are comparable to the real DAT... well here is my take... most likely whatever you end up getting on topscore/achiever/etc. is what you'll end up getting on the real things give or take one point or so in the AA. Maybe you'll get lucky on test day and questions will come up that you'll know the answer to and maybe you'll get unlucky hence the "give or take 1 or so points". However, you could get extremely lucky or extremely unlucky which will widen that potential score range. Think about it... they only ask 30-40 questions in each science section from 1200 pages of textbook in each subject - meaning they can pull the information out of anywhere, form/word the question anyway they want, etc. The possibilities of questions are endless. I'm not trying to scare anyone - I'm just trying to be as realistic as possible. Just be prepared for anything and everything.

I would say check out the lab techniques of Ochem, review your embryology notes or chapter, Read a lil bit about the FRAP technic if you have not done so far, and chill out till you take your test. Good Luck

I took the DAT about two weeks ago and, I am one of those people with a human score,18/20/17. I would have to say topscore is the most accurate indicator of your score. I went up about a point or two points on each of the science sections. My advice is to push hard the last week until the day before the test at which point you should have 24 hours of relaxation. Make sure you are mentally sound. Thats about all of the advice I can give!

Thanks for the advice!! and thanks for the study suggestions.. oddly enough those were some things I was thinking at looking at.. along with some trig identities that I recently realized might be important...
