online anatomy videos

I have seen a lot of people use online anatomy dissection videos. Can anyone reccommend any links for videos they have used?

I have found the UMich videos to be very good.

its not as crazy as it looks, get a good atlas, pay attention in lecture/lab and memorize/review as early and as often as you can and you'll be fine. its not impossible... just tedious. 👍

oh, that's not what worries me. I'm troubled about the invasive nature of it all. i think it will be hard for me to desensitize myself from sawing and cutting up a real person 🙁 i know most people feel this way at first, and im sure i'll eventually overcome these feelings, but still,anatomy is not a subject i'm eagerly anticipating

my lab partners left it to me to saw off the leg for the pelvic hemisection.... and use the bone saw to open the skull..... totally unreal feeling, almost as if you dont see the person.... just a task

it never really bothered me though because I KNEW these people had donated their bodies to science and wanted to teach us, thats what let me sleep at night

Don't worry about a thing. Here was my experience:

Dinner after day 1 of gross anatomy:
- Junior salad, no dressing
- Warm ginger ale

Dinner after day 14 of gross anatomy:
- Bratwurst
- Eye of round, extra rare
- Half of cold cut sub
- Vodka tonic

Vesalius is an excellent site for surgical education, but you have to purchase a membership. If I were you I wouldn't even think about doing that until third year.

Don't let the videos freak you out, LULU. You'll be surprised at how interesting it actually becomes. At the same time, there are some moments I'll never forget -- the pelvic hemisection, skinning the head, and tops on the list: sawing a human head in half. Just in time for halloween, too.

Yeah, although i'll speculate they wouldn't have donated, had they known what we would do to their bodies. would you ever donate your body to teach medical students?

Unless you have some significant prior experience in surgery, or are currently undergoing a surgery clerkship, you're probably not going to have a clue as to what's going on. You likely won't remember any of it later on, either.

If you're really pumped up and have a spare $15 to blow then go right ahead. But $15 is also a case of beer and a Slim Jim, my friend. Choose wisely.

absolutely. in fact, just before i kick off, i'm planning on swallowing a capsule that contains a secret message to my future dissection group. hopefully prosections won't have completely taken over by then.

Dear MSI's,

those anatomy videos are $$$$$$. Especially the ones from UMich 🙂. About a week before our exam, I would look at all the videos that dissected what the exam would cover, and I did their practice practical and written questions. Not only was it a break from endless reading, it was also sort of entertaining.

Needless to say, I was very satisfied with my gross anatomy scores. 🙂 So remember to LOOK AT THOSE VIDEOS when you are studying. (Of course, that means you have to be caught up with all the dissections and stuff beforehand. But I'm sure you guys are up to that task *wink*)
