I took a 300 level physiology class online last year at a state veterinary school and failed it, as I was working full time and could not dedicate the time to it that I wanted to. I am hesitant about submitting this transcript to vet schools I am applying to however the state school I want to go to will automatically see this failing grade. any suggestions/opinions?

You have to submit ALL of your transcripts. Unfortunately, that means you need to submit your transcript for your failing grade as well. Have you considered retaking physiology? Some schools will average the two, and some schools will replace the failing grade. While you *might* be able to get away with not submitting it, it's likely the schools will catch that (which is no bueno).

Definitely submit every one of your transcripts to VMCAS. It would be much worse for you if a school finds out you didn't submit the transcript. Retaking the class and applying to schools that do grade replacement or average it would be the best way to "fix" it, but if everything else on your application looks great, you might be able to just explain that one grade as well.

Since you are expected to submit all undergraduate transcripts, there's nothing really to consider or suggest.

I also want to add that physiology classes tend to be pretty hard and BMS 300 (my undergrad's physiology class) is one of the most commonly failed classes at my university. I wouldn't worry about failing it (you can consider retaking it if your GPA needs it).

As stated elsewhere in this thread, you are required to report all GPAs when you apply. It is a huge integrity issue to do otherwise and VMCAS/schools typically find out if you don't report it and look upon this extremely unfavorably.

I don't understand why this question gets asked so commonly on here. I'm reapplying with a transcript where my first semester was 2 0.0's and a W, but hiding that has never crossed my mind. To OP - work hard to make up for the less than stellar parts on your application. Being honest will bring forth greater rewards than getting into vet school.

Agreed, among other questions that have me raising eyebrows (on here and the APVMA page...). Really not the best idea to begin your veterinary career by hiding a failure. Part of the profession is recognizing your missteps and addressing them.

Side note- the dog in your picture is soooo cute!!

Definitely include all of your transcripts, especially if the school you want to go to will definitely see it haha. I think that's a no-brainer. What I would recommend is even if all of the schools you apply to don't require physiology, I would take it this summer. Finish it before you submit your application, and submit that transcript and your application with your new grade (of an A hopefully). If your current school does not offer it over the summer, there are plenty of schools that do such as UCLA (I know definitely does). Others that probably do are: UC Berkeley, Colorado State, Oregon, Michigan, UNE? That way all of the schools will see your new grade. I seriously would recommend retaking it and again even if those schools you apply to don't need it! It will look much better if you retake it because it will show that you were serious and want to succeed. Plus physiology is an amazing class, and it will be helpful to know and truly learn it well this time around. It is a difficult subject, but it is important to know. If I am wrong in saying any of this though, somebody please step in and say something!

I know somebody that didn't include a transcript and didn't get into their top choice school. They were devastated.

A friend of mine applied to PA school this last cycle. They use the same exact system we do, owned by the same company and everything. She took some CNA courses through her local community college while in her sophomore year of high school. She didn't put those courses down or anything (didn't think they counted since she took them in high school). The system accepted it, but when it went through the verification process, they kicked it back to her because they found she was missing a school and a transcript (I would assume through her social security number, but I'm not entirely sure). So I would imagine the same thing would happen with VMCAS.

Well this happens with any UC schools. They all can see your grades from any other UC school.

Why thank you!! He was dog that had broken off a very thick metal chain, was hit by a car, and arrived at the clinic I was employed at about five years ago. We repaired his fractured femur and I fostered him so that he didn't have to be in the shelter recovering from orthopedic surgery. He was a foster fail. He is said to be Shar-Pei/St. Bernard by the owners that relinquished him - they came forward to claim him but could not cover treatment costs. He's been a lot of work behaviorally and has a slew of veterinary specialists, and I don't think I'll ever own another Pei, but I do love him dearly. 🙂 Here's a photo from our walk this weekend.

That is the most unique looking dog I have seen in a loooooonnnnnnngggggg time! When you said Shar-Pei/St., I was like, "No way. That's totally just a Shar-Pei." Looked at the picture and thought, "Who put this Shar-Pei head on this St. body?!"

Omg!!!! He is so precious! That big face!! So cute. Thanks for including another picture, he is soo cute. Poor guy has been through so much. He is lucky to have someone like you caring for him. You can definitely also see that he is part St. Bernard! I had one, and man are they a lot of work, (and stubborn)! They mean well though haha.

I took BMS 300 at CSU if its the same one? I took 500 level mamm phys I and II this year in my masters program and got B's in both, so not great, but definitely better than failing

Yup, that is the same one! I also know a few people in that masters program and from what I hear mamm phys I/II are super difficult classes.

great, thanks everyone! I get the point now. I didn't realize I had posted this question twice as I was not getting notifications about replies.
