I have a pretty low GPA and I'm going to graduate next May. Despite a 4.0 last semester and (hopefully) getting 4.0's the next two semesters, my GPA won't move much at all (I have a lot of hours).

How do you think an adcom would look at taking 30+ hours online at the same time as my regular classes (which are upper division science courses). As long as I get good grades in both colleges, do you think I will get a negative reaction?

Thanks

Just FYI, online classes are not always easy. The online psych class I took last semester was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken despite having open book exams.

Seriously. I've done 4 online psych classes and they are extremely tough. Is there anywhere on the transcript that says it was an online class??

You're going to try to take 45ish credit hours worth of courses??? Or am I reading this wrong?

I've taken an online class before so I know what I would be getting into.

It was at a community college in my home town away from my university, so I'm sure an adcom would notice. But if you took the class through an online extension of your own university, I'm not sure if they would notice.

Sorry, 30 hours online over two semesters = 15 hours online per semester.

So about 30ish hours each semester. I used to work part time, and I'm looking to quit to pay attention to school. I've taken online courses at this college before and I know what's expected of me and what my limits are.

Oh okay. Well heck I say if you can get A's then go for it. Just make sure they're actually easy. I always use ratemyprofessor and look at ratings of people who took the exact class I'm considering to see if it's really easy.

If anybody questions it you can just make up some bull and say "yeah I just have a lot of interests I wanted to explore before I graduated."

speaking from experience, its a risk. some schools accept them while others dont. definitely contact the schools that you want to apply to and see whether they accept these classes.

You're better off strategically picking easy teachers and easy classes at your local state uni or, perhaps, a few non-prereq courses at CC. Online can be a bear; you end up teaching yourself.

Yea, and you could also be honest and say that you knew your GPA was low and you 1. had lots of interests 2. wanted to show you could handle a very heavy courseload and 3. needed more classes to help improve your GPA.

I don't think taking 30 credits will be feasible. You are not going to get solid A's, probably a mix of C's to A's. That isn't going to raise your GPA. Why not just take an extra year and devote that to the online classes?

I think you mean online science classes? I've never heard of a school not taking online English composition classes or whatever.

Idk, I got straight A's and A+'s one semester when I took 24 credits, and they were mostly engineering classes. If OP is dedicated and smart he/she can do it.

Only YOU can prevent grade disaster though, OP.

/got my bear reference in for the day

If those classes are easy, go for it. I took 22 credits last spring and made all A's and one B+ from biophysical chemistry. You just need to manage and devoted your time into studying.
