OK- I am going to spend the next year or two in France playing sports, during which time I will have some available time during the day.
My plan is to come back to the states and do some kind of post-bacc/SMP (although I'm leaning toward a post-bacc) to get some recent coursework and to improve my numbers a bit.
Here's my question- will courses taken online through a legit extension program (like UCLA or something) count toward improving my GPA as well? Because I feel like I might have the time to do that while I'm overseas.
Right now I've calculated that with a post-bacc (and 8 courses total with mostly A's), I can get my cum GPA from a 3.5 to a 3.6, and my BCPM from a 3.2 to a 3.5.
However, if I have 12+ classes I can get my GPA near 3.7 and my BCPM to 3.6, which may help me get into the UC schools and some of the more competitive med schools (in other words, if I take 4-6 courses online before my post-bacc).
Does anyone know how this would work? I'd like to put my time to good use while I'm overseas and my advisor said any coursework I do in French universities might be personally beneficial, but useless for my med school application.
Thoughts on this?
