online courses

Don't bother. Most schools won't take them unless you fool them into thinking they were actual campus-based courses. Some people will advise you that the transcripts look the same but adcomms are smart and if they figure it out you are screwed.

What do you think about online courses? Will I get less a chance to med school?
Thanks,

Hi there,
As long as your on-line course is not a medical school pre-req, you are probably OK. For example, if you are taking an on-line humanities course, business course or something along those lines, I do not see any problems. I would stay away from math, chemistry, physics or biology coursework.

I think it depends on what you take and where you take it. A close friend and current 4th year med student took Immunology and Biochemistry through Cal-Berkeley and the classes were well received by her med school. I've also known of folks who took online classes through Hopkins and got accepted to med school. In fact, for anyone who has ever taken both an online class and in person class at Hopkins, you know that the level of difficulty is the same since the prof is often the same.

thanks all...I am going to take campus-based courses...just to be on the safe side..
