I know that if it can be avoided it should be. I am taking courses through UCLA extension and there are quite a few physiological science courses that are offered as online coursework. I am commuting 1.5hrs to and from school because the local community college does not offer night courses that I need to take and there is not another state school with a reasonably priced open campus offering night courses nearby. I am working 2 jobs, which range anywhere from 9-60+hrs per week depending on patient load (frustrating) and it is near impossible for me to take more than 1 course per quarter with my schedule. I was wondering what everyone's opinion would be of online coursework to avoid the commute and be able to work at my own pace, on the weekends or in down time to my job. I'm hoping that by fall one of the jobs will stabilize or I will be able to find a full-time job so that I can take 2 courses a quarter on campus but for summer would it hurt to take an extra upper div science course online?

I am typically a nay but it sounds like you have a decent enough reason for it.

Just make sure you realize it might not get the same bang for your buck that in-person classes might get you in terms of impressing an adcom (tho again, with enough other things, it might not matter)

Do you know how the online courses will be marked on your transcript? Some schools will have some notation to show that the class was an online class, while some schools don't so no one will know that it was an online course.

I'm going to check with the program and this is something that I actually wondered about earlier. I know online when registering the courses are labelled as "course title (online)" but i'm not sure if that is how they will show on the transcript or if it will simply be the course name. If there is no way to tell it is online I'll be doing it without a doubt to make my life easier

I've taken quite a bit of online classes but none of them specifically said online on the transcript, thank god haha

I agree though, with your schedule online classes would not be bad idea. They have this Pathophysiology class which seems really interesting too bad it'll cost another $500 👎

Classes get expensive, it sucks. The speeding ticket I got on my way to norcal this past weekend definitely cut into the remainder of my class funds for summer I think. Barring some extra work at least.
