I tend to write down everything the professor says during the online lecture and it ends up being time consuming and really annoying. Any tips for taking notes during an online lecture?

Does your professor give you powerpoints to go along with it? If so, just paraphrase the main point on each slide and add the supporting details if they're relevant to understanding the main concept(s). I can't personally think of an easier way of doing this. You just need to figure out what your professor looks for on exams and whatnot and study to an appropriate level of detail

I tried to stop writing down everything the lecturer says but didn't work for me. So here I am filling a 3 subject notebook for each exam

If thats not an exaggeration, that is wayyyyy too much detail for a single exam... You need to focus on concepts.

The power point is incorporated into the slides not separated. And it isn't detailed. She talks a lot.

Have you ever taken notes from something online. Do you write every important things they say or just the main points?

I'm doing pretty well but thanks for the unsolicited advice

Edit: Time out! You haven't even started medical school yet and you're already doling out advice to medical students?

Yep. You have a lot more flexibility with online lectures in recording. You can also slow the speed to 1/2 or 1/4 to ensure you get all the concepts down without feeling rushed
Ok so is it better to listen to it over and over again, instead of taking down notes?

Wasn't my intention, I was under the impression you were OP (missing avatars) and thought a 3 subject notebook was overly excessive for a collegiate EXAM*. Regardless, I'm sure that's common for a med student, but I can't see your status on my phone.

This is the pre med forum, so filling out a whole notebook for a medical school exam isn't really relevant here.

Also, I assumed you were OP when I first read this thread and saw your comment about unsolicited advice. Your first post was very similar to the concerns OP expressed.

Simply saying that while most people learn effectively from re-listening to lectures as stated above, some people need to write it in their own words to get it. OP should try it but if it doesn't work (like it didn't for me) sometimes you have to rely on the tried n true.
