I live in Windsor ON and there are plenty of pharmacies around here but i cant seem to find any place near by where i could take a PT course so im thinking of getting it done online, can this be done and does it make a significant difference that its online?

I took the Gatlin online pharm tech course, biggest waste of money ever period. The only good thing is that they give you a 20 hour externship at Walgreens. Besides that just get a calculations book and study on your own.

how long do you think it will take to study for this and do you know of any good resources to help get started

I'm certified Pharmacy Technician and i didn't go to any school nor did i take any classes to become Pharmacy Technician. I got certified from my employement, so just go and fill out an application to work at walgreens or any retail pharmacy and after like 6 or more months of working as technician, you can take the PTCB test and get certified.......i would suggest you to apply at walgreens because they give you training and they pay for the PTCB test.....on top of that you get raise after you become certified.....I worked for Walgreens for 2 years now and i feel like i know everything, i could become Senior Pharmacy Technician, but you have to be full time and with me trying to go into Pharmacy School, I can't.

i ran out of breath reading that...

anyway, i think im just going to study for the ptcb test and take it. i read about people on here who studied for a couple hours and passed it? Saves much more time than on the job training.

The PTCB exam is honestly not bad at all. After a few months on the job I would think anyone could pass it. I bought a book but didn't look at it and ended up selling it to a coworker who has yet to take the exam.
