Alright Dudes,

Gettin tired of putting pics of my gorillas on discs to send via snail mail to my relatives. And attaching pics to email takes too long per picture.

Do any of you guys use those online pic sites where you can just post all your pics so the relatives, if they want to see them, just sign on to your site?

Which site do you like? How long does it take to post pics?

Thanks in advance.

I use flickr. Most people I know already have a yahoo login, which is what it runs off of. There is an uploader application you can download so selecting your pics is drag and drop, then you can tell it to batch upload and walk away.

edit: I find it's pretty easy to work with individual and batch photos once they're online, you can have 3 levels of permissions (public, family, friends), and people can download the full size image for free. plus the mapping is fun.

Imageshack works well for me...

Kodak gallery is nice in that they can order hard copies from them.....for a fee.

picasa and ofoto (kodak) are really good. yeah, it takes a little while to upload them, but the image quality is good and they're both user friendly.

Few image sharing webs that i used to frequent:

ImageShack.us
PhotoBucket.com*
Picoodle.com
*Need an account to upload

I would say ImageShack is quite good based on my personal experiences, fast for me and userfriendly 😀

If you have any experience with web sites, the best course I could say is buy some hosting (like 70 bucks for 4 years of good storage and bandwidth) and make your own photo gallery (Jalbum makes it very easy). Mine (http://www.altron.us) is that way. The problem with the other sites is that they resize very small and compress the images tremendously so that they can save space and bandwidth. Your friends and relatives will save those crappy, compressed versions of your images instead of large, high quality ones. It might be more effort than you're looking for, but as a photographer, it's the only way I would do it.

Use picasa2 and upload them to picasaweb. They allow TONS of free storage. FREE. And they allow full-screen shots that can be seen by your friends instead of the tiny shots some of the other sites put up there.

Trust me... PICASA is the best. Hands down.
