Hi, I already took physics but my friend has a question. My undergrad offers an online physics class that is taught by a really great professor, and much easier than the in person versions of the course taught by other professors. For comparison, the in person class has test averages of mid 50s and no curve (aka half the class fails) while the online class has much higher averages. I know med schools dont approve of online prereqs, but theres nothing on the transcript that shows that this is an online class. Would it be worth my friends time to take the online physics class? Thanks

I don't believe there is no curve for physics class with average grade of 50%

This is taken from an undergrad website where student from my college rate their courses. This is just for the final but other students attested for similar grades for the midterms.
  • Hi all, Below are stats for last week’s final exam, for which 209 students sat, 14 students did not show (including two INC) and 223 students were registered for the entire course. Thus, course stats below are for 221 total students and exam stats are for 209 students.1) Final Exam Average = 56.1/100 (letter grade = D)2) Percent of Students Passing the Exam (grade>50) = 124/209 = 59.3%3) Percent of Students Failing the Exam (grade<50) = 86/209 = 41.1%4) Percent of Students with an A grade type on the Exam = 19/209 = 9.1%5) Percent of Students with a B grade type on the Exam = 36/209 = 17.2%6) Percent of Students with a C grade type on the Exam = 38/209 = 18.2%7) Percent of Students with a D grade type on the Exam = 30/209 = 14.4%8) Percent of Students with a C or higher on the Exam = 93/209 = 44.5%9) Percent of Students Passing the Course (grade>50) = 181/221 = 81.9% 9) Percent of Students Failing the Course (grade<50) = 40/221 = 18.1% How about we fix this grading system? Grades below C do not count towards a Major/Minor Graduation. So really 81.9% of the class did not pass the course. Grades from 64 (C-) to 50 (D-) should also be counted as those who failed this course. And the average on the final was a 56 which Prof. clearly states is a D. If the average is a 56, then how is that a D? Shouldn't that be a C?
