I presume most of these references are experienced with the timeline to send in letters for ERAS, right? (This isn't med school admissions.) Did you give them your matching form info? What is the deadline you have to turn in all of those letters?
The instructions for institutions (medical school admins) for ERAS:
ERAS® for Letter Writers
Beginning with the 2027 ERAS® application cycle, Letters of Recommendation (LoR) will be submitted through the new AAMC Letter Writer Portal.
Ask them to use AI or have a midlevel do one.

Vascular surgeon who uses midlevels to make an extra 35k per year btw. Probably uses rnfas on cases btw. Probably gonna be “teaching and observing” them do endarterectomies in 2 years even though it’s bad for patients btw.

You’re a vascular surgeon? I thought you were applying to residency?
Anyways, I guess the main point is that you should never agree to write a letter that you don’t intent to write
It’s honestly so surprising that someone would have a difficult time saying something positive about you in a letter. Can’t possibly understand why this would be a hurdle for you in your career.
Sometimes the best person to reach out to is their secretary / admin. Ask nicely. Bring donuts.
