Are you asking for opinions on your chances this cycle or advice on how to improve for next cycle?

I don't understand how you can have no interest in primary care and yet have an interest in rural medicine.

You have a dearth of experience with nonclinical volunteering with underserved (human) populations. That makes service oriented schools like Georgetown a nonstarter.

Your MD list should include more midtier schools like Medical College of Wisconsin, St. Louis University, Cincinnati, as well as Cleveland Clinic (likes research oriented candidates).

There are MD programs with strong rural medicine programs where you might have an advantage if you could show demonstrated interest in rural medicine. Can you?

Good thread on rural medical programs:

I also agree I don't know why the OP had an interest in rural medicine since I don't see anything under experiences that suggest some passion for it. It makes me question the overall interest the applicant has for medicine.

Sorry guys. I didn't notice that. I don't have interest in rural medicine. I'm definitely more academia inclined. Apologies for the mistake.

Isn't U of Colorado (not Colorado State) that's friendly to out of state applicants? Your list says you applied to Colorado State but not U of Colorado.

U of Washington takes almost no out of state residents.

Some other schools you might consider if another cycle becomes necessary: Medical College of Wisconsin, Boston University, Quinnipiac, Nova MD.

Even though you corrected your interest in rural medicine mistake, your application screams lab rat. You have nothing that even hints at you wanting to be a physician. It’s quite possible that some schools are wondering why not a PhD? Is this your second cycle? What significant improvements did you make in your application between Cycle 1 and Cycle2. ADCOMS expect significant improvement in a reapplicant ion. Looking at your ECs you do have some holes you can try to fill in. You should try to get some shadowing hours with a primary care doc. You also need to find some nonclinical volunteering with the unserved/underserved in your community. You really need at least 150 hours of this. Your work with animals is okay, but as a doctor you will be working with all kinds of people that are very unlike yourself. You have to be comfortable doing that.
I’m not a big fan of using EMT work for your clinical experiences. Although lots of people do. After two cycles perhaps you should try to find some direct patient contact in a hospital, clinic, hospice. It would change up your focus and show ADCOMS that you are spreading your experience around.
It’s still early in the cycle and you might receive interviews anytime between now and Spring. But as time goes on you should make plans for a third application cycle. But you need to fix some areas and show ADCOMS you want to deal with the sick and injured for the next 35+ years.

My EMT experience came after my second unsuccessful cycle which resulted in one interview ultimately rejection. I had almost no clinical experience, and becoming an EMT during the pandemic was a way to get clinical experience and strengthen my application. I'm not sure why you're saying it's not a clinical experience given that you are responsible for a patient?

I applied to CUSOM and Washington is supposed to be (St. Louis). I apologize for any confusion.

I didn’t say that at all.

So this is your third cycle applying?
