Only 3 eLORS?
Started by Chapelle
Illinois told me they would accept more than 3, but that you would still only get points for three of them.
Oklahoma takes 3, and picks them randomly.
Oklahoma takes 3, and picks them randomly.
That's pretty much the worst thing ever.

.Hey, I think I've asked this... maybe, probably... but O(K)SU will only read/count 3 LORs, right? A 4th would not be considered?
Thanks,
Rhiannon

.Yes, we only look at 3. If more are sent we pick the 3 to read at random..

I am dearly hoping this isn't the case because my last letter submitted was from my vet recommendation.Minnesota only looks at 3, if you submit more than 3, they pick the first 3 that were completed. . . but you can have a typed letter sent to them directly and they "may or may not" look at it depending on the discretion of the adcoms.
Ended up with 2 academic because I didn't hear from one until about 2 months after they agreed to write one and panicked, and the other is a non-veterinary employer..Rhiannon,.

Yep, but I believe since they require 2 vet eLORs, they'll pick 2 vet LORS, and the 3rd one will be random.

They only require one vet LOR. I have no idea if they would seek that one out and then pick the other two at random (didn't ask that). All three of my LORs were vets, and if I had four, they would still have all been vets. Lol.
ETA: You know, we *DO* call Oklahoma State University "OSU" around here. It *IS* OSU. Ohio just has some sort of superiority complex. So, I call it OKSU on the boards for clarity. I didn't bother in the email... since I was emailing someone that works there... 🙂

I read somewhere (can't remember where exactly...) that vet schools will choose the LORs that fulfill their requirements. I'm assuming if you have more than those that fill their requirements, they'll choose at random. For instance, if you have 2 advisors, and they will only use one, they'll choose one arbitrarily.
On another note, I know Oklahoma State as OSU, since I attended a conference there last year. I will have to keep the OSU/OKSU specification in mind.

Don't forget about Oregon... It's 'ORSU' I suppose. 😉

I usually just refer to the O schools by the state- although you are right that THE Ohio State University does have a complex. Sigh.
Well I emailed my schools and apparently VMRCVM, Purdue, and Wisconsin all want me to pick 3 also...do you think that is just because I asked about it or is that standard procedure for them?
I wish they would just have this info on their website.
From VMRCVM's website "Three personal evaluations are to be submitted to VMCAS electronically. Further information about the electronic evaluation (eLOR) can be found at http://www.aavmc.org/vmcas/evaluations.htm."
I thought it was clear that they only wanted three. Then again, I only had three, so I didn't care!

oh haha, i'm not applying to neither oklahoma nor oregon so i didn't even think about it😛 sorry, i'm not so good with letters and numbers. (it actually took me a few months to realize on here that when people said csu they meant colorado... since in california, csu = california state university)
but i did always wonder why the ohio people on sdn always referred to ohio as THE osu. it kinda gave me the shivers every time and i couldn't figure out why... but alas, it's the superiority complex!

No, that is literally part of their name. It is not part of Oklahoma State's name. A cursory glance at the schools' websites confirms such. 😉

And here it is: http://library.osu.edu/sites/archives/resources/faqpage.php#THE
I know, but when we changed from Oklahoma A&M to OSU back in 1930 or whatever, we didn't insist on adding 'THE' to it.
Our slogan is 'OSU - The state's university' or something like that... hich is fine, bragging about being numero uno in the state is fine. But being THE OSU (over those two other OSU's that ren't really worth much) is a bit... arrogant?
I think I sound like I care way more than I do - I was just clarifying initially, and couldn't resist the jab at TEHOSU.
