Only one II. Should I restudy for the MCAT?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted a bit late, so I was complete around late September. I have an II in February and a few rejections so far. I'm thinking about restudying for the MCAT since I got a 28 and I know it's been the one thing that's really holding me back. I know the cycle's not quite over, but would it make sense to start prepping for the MCAT in case this application season doesn't work out for me?

i believe that it is a good idea to retake the MCAT. i would start as soon as the new year's holiday is over and take the exam around May.

I would begin prepping for the MCAT again, especially the sections where your scores were the weakest (though you probably already know that). Good luck on your interview...hopefully you won't need to take the MCAT again!

I agree. Best of luck for the interview you have left though, there's always a chance you'll get it!

It's pretty amazing to have an ii with a 28! Some people with 30's don't get ii's at all. 🙁

State of residence? Number of schools you applied to? DO schools?

Had a balanced MCAT but it was a low overall score. Guess I'll have to prep all of the sections again...

Probably. But if you can increase each section by just one point, you'll be at a 31.

OP, don't panic. Start methodically restudying, and do whatever you can to blow your II out of the water. I don't know where your one II is, but look up the interview feedback on this site and make sure you're prepared. If you get waitlisted, do everything in your power short of being annoying/stalkerish to get off that waitlist. The school gave you an II because they see something in you that's kept you in the running, so don't lose hope yet. You've got this 😀

+1

Especially the DO question. You would be sitting on an acceptance right now if you applied DO (if you spent time shadowing a DO and had a DO letter). Instead you are going to be prepping to take a very difficult test again with the possibility of scoring LOWER.

You also did not state your GPA and ECs.

Make sure your LizzyM score is comparable to the schools where you are applying.

I'm in a similar position. I applied late, my mcat is a 29 and I got the same score twice. I'm also a graduate. Any tips? My gpa is identical to OP

The tip is, DO , SMP, or Post Bac. If SMP or Post Bac then you should murder the Mcat next time around as well as strong grades and you should be in good shape.

Before I was accepted I only had 1 interview! And like some of the people already said, if you are suprised that you got an interview with that score (which i dont think is low), then im sure there is something ballin on your application. As always, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
