Hi everyone,

Two questions:

As an undergrad, I majored in psyc. My cumulative uGPA was a 3.7, but my sGPA was only a 3.3, which is only based on two courses (an A in a math course and b- in an environmental science course). Does this unimpressive science GPA mean anything to adcoms?

Also, I took SO many science/math-heavy courses during undergrad and did well in them, it's just that the course subjects happen to be PSYC (drugs and behavior, statistics, sensation and perception, etc.). Do these really not count?

The prereq classes for med school will get averaged in to your GPAs after you take them.

Yeah, where are your pre-reqs. There should be atleast 8 of those classes.

Well, you're sitting pretty then. Take the pre-reqs, get As and you'll have super gpa numbers.

And no, Psyc classes don't get counted in the sgpa.

I'm starting with the prereqs this week. Won't be applying to med school until at least 2016

I guess I saw the undergrad grades and postbacc grades as two separate factors in an application, but it sounds like they'll combine together to make my numbers? Is that true?

I graduated in 2012 if that's relevant.

The undergrad and post-bac BCPM grades will all average together for your science GPA.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. It's all much appreciated. Hopefully I'll do well in my post-bac classes, and I'm thankful to have two years to make a good application.
