Anyone wanna meet up? Visiting November 24- December 18 for some thesis research. Not sure what my schedule will be like yet and I'll certainly be busy, but would love to get to see some of the vet school while I'm around and meet up with some sdn peeps.

XOXO

Foxy, hey! Hope all is well.

I was in PEI, not Guelph, but I’d bring a heavy jacket, warm socks, a hat and some mittens plus lots of layers - long sleeve T-shirts, hoodies, etc. Our Floridian classmates were in artic-level parkas in October first year

Also what should I absolutely pack for the weather
- a Texan who now lives in North Carolina and thought it was cold when I moved here
I am not local but grew up in NE USA. My advice - lots of layers works better than one big coat and then you can pick/discard layers as you move into warmer areas. I usually do tank top, shirt, long sleeved shirt, cardigan/sweater, then coat. Yoga pants or tights under jeans (fleece lined is great if you have them). The layers don't need to be especially thick. The wind will try to sneak up the ends of your pants so warm socks are good.
A scarf if you don't have a high collared jacket. I don't particularly care for ear muffs or hats so I don't usually wear them and do just fine, but they might be nice to have along
A note: the kind of jacket you want for wet cold is different then dry cold. Not sure how much the area rains?

I'm currently an undergrad at Guelph and I would say this advice is pretty much what you should follow! The weather can be very all over the place some days being really cold and windy, the kind of wind that makes it feel like your skin is going to peel off of your face. Other days it can be snowy but not quite windy so definitely bring layers that you can use to adjust depending on the day. I would also make sure you bring boots that have a nice grip on the soles because it can get quite slippery when the plows haven't come around to clean the snow yet!

Any pros and cons to OVC from current/ former vet students?
