I decided to pursue Interventional Cardiology early in my 3rd year. Does anybody know about an open Interventional spot for 2012? I would really appreciate your help.

One of the UC's (I think it was Fresno?) was still advertising a while back for someone. You could also try checking the ACC web site, and/or networking at interventional conferences (regional or national). Maybe a spot has, or will, open up.
