Prerequisites: Applicants must meet one of the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for a residency position:
a. Graduate of medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or CODA, b. Graduate of college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), c. Graduate of medical school outside the United States and Canada who have either:
(i) a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or;
(ii) a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in North Carolina.
d. Graduate of medical school outside the United States and successful completion of a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school.
Special Comments: Appointment packet contains:
1. UNC Hospitals Application for Appointment to Graduate Medical Education 2. Three letters of recommendation including one from the program director of the residency program in which the applicant has most recently served. The remaining two letters should be from members of the medical staff of the hospital affiliated with the sponsoring institution of that residency program 3. An official Medical/Dental School transcript, from the Registrar of the School of Medicine/Dentistry subsequent to graduation.
