As a personal opinion, they should refund it. But University is a business, so i dont think they would refund it. They take application fee for administration costs and the fee ranges from $50 to $175 for those specific costs. So, the answer to this question is No, in the real world. Hope this helps

I think they should refund only a part of it if the candidate is NOT invited to an interview.

if it's a business, then they should certainly refund the applicants' fees for not providing any service (interview) at least in part deducting the application stationary expenses and administration costs, which i dont think would be more than 50$ per applicant.

i think uni should refund some amount of money of application fee as 1 application cost us more then 200$ overall including sending scores to them. or
may be they should not charge application fee for re applicants. or
they should return us over original scores and application materials.

Did you guys think that there are people who spend time reading the applications? Do you realize that except an administrative assistant there is at least the program director reading these applications? This guy (each program director) is a dentist. He(she) puts days of work into this application process. Instead of reading applications he can be in the clinic treating patients and making money. Now, put yourself in these people shoes and think straight. Should be any fee there if the person is not called for an interview? Sure, the applicant file was reviewed anyway. The fee is not covering the real expenses. You should know that a lot of people interviewing applicants, do this for free (volunteers). I know that this fee means a lot at this point, but very soon when you get accepted, you realize that this is your smallest problem, when you need to pay $100.000-200.000 fees.

whatever dude....money is money...
universities like TEMPLE charge 30$.....colorado charges 175$.....so some universities get cheap volunteers and some get little expensive volunteers.
in that case my be u are right.

if they volunteer.... charging high fees is not justified
if it really costs them...partial refund is justified
if they are such a busy clinicians and volunteering ..thats not a valid argument either
