Anybody have a connection in philly or south jersey? I am a first year, interested in the field, and want to some spend some time shadowing one and whatnot.

Thanks

have you tried contacting one of the univeristy programs in the area. there are several in philly.

Actually your school has an Optho residency program. You should look it up, that would be the best place to start.

Besides that, philly is the birthplace of Opthalmology in the States, there are more high quality practices in philly than anywhere else in the US. So you are in a good town to do some research. Mayo clinic, Weil eye institute, a ton of top tier experiences.

good luck

well we don't actually have an ophtho residency (we're the DO school, see OP's signature above). we do have some ophthos come in though to teach a couple classes so I would contact Dr K in the academic affairs office and ask him who they have come in for those lectures.

or just follow this link and start picking, since they're in our system you should be able to find someone willing to help you out.

Try to find Greg Bennet, D.O. He is an ophthalmologist at JFK Memorial. Ask him if he does not mind a student shadowing him.
