There are few programs that ask to send in a CV as secondary materials.

I have a CV all ready, but after filling out the CAS application was wondering if I should put career objectives and "specialty electives and related activities". Anybody put those on their normal CV?

I don't think those are appropriate for a CV. Check out some templates online, perhaps one of your attendings will share his/hers with you. Have not seen those headlines/subtopics on a CV before.

I included a section similar to "specialty electives and related activities" in my CV long before I knew about the CAS application...except I called it "extended clinical experience." 🙂 I think as ophthalmology residency applicants, it's ok to include. Of course I wouldn't include it as an attending. Your CV serves a different purpose depending on where you are in your career and so it's constantly evolving.

This is true, but sometimes when I see CV's that have too many of these types of subheadings it's clear they are trying to "pad" their CV with extraneous information. If your CV is just one page, let it be one page. Don't think you have to add information just to get an additional page. More is not always better.
