Does anyone have a book they would recommend reading: 1). before starting an ophthalmology rotation; 2). during an ophthalmology rotation; 3). if you plan on going into ophthalmology (any "must have" books)? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Vaughan & Asbury's General Ophthalmology was quite helpful for mine and reasonably priced. It was lacking pictures though so I took out Kanski's atlas out of my library.

Other good ones are Kanski's Clinical Ophthalmology: A systematic approach (expensive so I would recommend looking in your library)

As for going into ophtho, I've seen many residents have the Will's Eye Manual and Practical Ophthalmology a Manual for beginner residents but I'm sure others may be able to help you there...

Check out the ophtho forum. I wouldn't buy any books, but if I had to pick one for a rotation it would be

Basic Ophthalmology for medical students and primary care residents, by Cynthia Bradford. I have the 7th edition, but I have seen the 8th out now.

Kanksi is good for pics, but I would check it out from library. Buy it only if you go into ophthalmology. The true bible of eyes for me is Yanoff and Duker. Will's manual is awesome, but really geared more towards residents.
