Just wanted to put a friendly post up here about Ophtho Questions. If you are looking for the USMLE World of Ophthalmology Board prep, this is the qbank to get! Almost every resident in my program uses this, and likes how it gives you immediate feedback of how you do in comparison to your peers (just like the OKAPs will do when they score your test). I learn best by doing questions, so this option was perfect for me!👍

I've been critical of OphthoQuestions, but it is a lot better than expected. They give you really good feedback on how you compare to others at your level, which helps. Good explanations on why for the questions too, especially in optics. Like the high yield feature as well. If you google, some guy has put up key points from OphthoQuestions on Quizlet. http://quizlet.com/9979438/ophthoquestions-learning-points-flash-cards/

Definitely far better than anything out there in terms of questions online. Feedback from a friend who took the WQE today, is that there were questions that were very relevant. Of course, not everything that you need, nor word for word, but not a waste of time. He said he definitely got some right because of his work on OphthoQuestions. He also said that he did a lot more questions using it then he ever would have paper/pencil like re-doing Chern or MEE.

After taking the OKAPS today ophthoquestions was not quite as good as I hoped it would be. Definitely some of the knowledge crosses over but overall I felt like the Chern questions were slightly higher-yield in terms of hitting the commonly asked questions. The one benefit to ophthoquestions is lots and lots of optics questions which while annoying were quite helpful in today's test.

The biggest benefit is the ability to do questions on the 'run' (i.e. in clinic, while seeing consults in the hospital). If they came up with a good iphone app allowing you to take questions on your account (you cannot really get good access to the website on iphone Safari) then it would be well worth the money next year. Or to get more sophisticated a voice controlled question interface that could be done while commuting (using Siri).

Viking,

Yes, developing an iphone app or mobile version of our website is a top priority for the next "testing season." It will take some time and money, but we will get it done.

We also plan on adding many more *high-yield* questions to augment OQ. If you want, you can always contribute to OQ by e-mailing or PM'ing us.

Take care,

Disagree completely. Found ophthoquestions to be very useful and high yield. I felt some questions were literally repeated verbatim....kind of freaky. Well done

Agree with the above. I found ophtho questions extremely helpful for the written boards. Of course I don't know if I passed or not but I felt a lot better than I usually did after okaps.
